Meaning: Use of the anchor symbol dates from the end of the 1st century and symbolizes stability, strength and hope. It is also mentioned in the scriptures - Hebrews 6:19 -" We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." The first record of the anchor and rope symbol being used together was by the Lord High Admiral of Scotland in 1402. The anchor and rope is a 500 year old seafaring symbol with its origins in Britain
